As a short-term rental owner, of course, it's important to provide your guests with a comfortable sleeping experience - but it's also important to streamline your procurement and inventory.
Triple sheeting is a way to achieve this with ease. Triple sheeting is a technique commonly used in the hospitality industry that uses three flat sheets to create a clean and luxurious bed setup, quickly.
When it comes to triple sheeting, there are a few things to keep in mind to ensure a great guest experience:
-
Use high-quality sheets that can withstand frequent washing. Look for sheets made from durable materials that are soft and comfortable, such as those from Standard Textile.
-
Make sure you have enough sets of sheets on hand so that you can easily change them between guests. You should aim to have at least three sets of sheets for each bed (this per bed linen system is commonly referred to as 'par' such as "3 par"
-
Train your cleaning staff on the proper technique for triple sheeting to ensure that the bed looks and feels comfortable and inviting.

By following these steps and keeping these tips in mind, you can create a beautiful and inviting sleeping space that your guests (and cleaning team!) are sure to love.
How to Triple Sheet Your Beds:
-
Step 1: Build a Foundation (Flat Sheet)
Start by putting on a flat sheet that is secure and wrinkle-free. Ensure that the sheet is tightly tucked in around the edges of the mattress to prevent it from coming loose during the night. Think 'hospital corners' or a 'military tuck' and you'll be a pro in no time.
-
Step 2: Add First Layer (Flat Sheet)
Place a flat sheet over the fitted sheet with the correct side facing down. Align the top edge of the flat sheet with the top of the mattress and ensure that it's smooth and even on both sides.
-
Step 3: Add Inner Layer (Blanket)
Place a blanket or comforter over the flat sheet, ensuring that it has a blanket protector. Leave a six-inch gap between the top of the mattress and the top of the comforter.
-
Step 4: Add Top Layer (Flat Sheet)
Place another flat sheet over the blanket or comforter with the correct side facing up. Align the top edge with the top of the mattress and ensure that it's smooth and even on both sides.
-
Step 5: Fold for a Finished Look
Fold the top of the sheets back from where the comforter starts, leaving the blanket in place. Then, make another fold of around 15 cm, folding both the sheets and the blanket. This will create that inviting "turned down" appearance we all know and love.
-
Step 6: Tuck It All In
Tuck all three layers of sheets and the blanket tightly under the foot of the mattress. Fold the hanging fabric at the sides of the foot into a neat U-shape and tuck it in along the length of the bed. Pull towards the headboard while tucking to stretch out any final creases.
Pro Tip: If you have a King-sized bed, it's important to note that the California King size won't provide full coverage. For triple sheeting on a King-sized bed (78x80), consider using King size sheets with extra width. Standard Textile offers King extra wide flat (114x125) and King Flat (108x115) sheets that can be used together. The regular King sheet goes on the bottom, and the extra wide sheet goes on top, providing an additional 6 inches on the sides and 10 inches at the top and bottom for better coverage.
