Since Schlage offers an array of locks, follow the prompts here to select your specific lock. From there you'll be provided detail steps for troubleshooting, installation, reprogramming, and more.
What type of batteries should I use?
Schlage recommends using a premium alkaline battery for all electronic locks. The only brand recommended in Schlage locks is Duracell Coppertop. We do not recommend off brand, store brand or Energizer. Engineers have done multiple tests to determine which brands work best in these locks. Lithium, or rechargeable technologies may cause undesirable operation. Our smart and electronic locks are equipped with low battery warnings. When presented with this warning, it is best to replace your batteries immediately to ensure continued, reliable operation. When replacing the batteries, it is best to use new and unused alkaline batteries.
Schlage Connect Smart Deadbolt, Schlage Sense Smart Deadbolt, Schlage Encode Smart WiFi Deadbolt, Encode Plus Smart WiFi Deadbolt, and Schlage Encode Smart WiFi lever requires 4 x AA batteries.
How do I program my lock from the Schlage Home app?

NOTE: To program a Schlage Sense or Schlage Encode, Encode+ or Encode Smart Wifi lever lock through the Schlage Home app, you must first have the lock paired to the app and have a WiFi connection to the lock.
Open the Schlage Home app.
Tap the “People” icon at the bottom-right.
Tap the + symbol at the top-right.
Fill out the User Code info.
Tap “Save” at the top-right.
The code should then save and will begin immediately working on the lock based on the codes' assigned schedule on the Code Info page. If the code is not working, or if the app is having issues saving the code, please be sure to check the connectivity of the lock.

What is Schlage's Key Alike service?
Key Alike is a complimentary service where all locks are keyed the same, meaning one key can open all locks. Be sure to select the Key Alike option from the product page when ordering if you'd like your locks to share the same key.
