What are the differences between the Helix Hospitality Mattress and the Brooklyn 10” Hybrid?
While the Helix Hospitality Mattress and the Brooklyn 10” Hybrid share some similarities, there are some notable differences. The primary difference lies in the materials used in the construction of each mattress, which affects the price.
The Helix Hospitality Mattress features a Gel Memory Foam comfort layer, while the Brooklyn 10” Hybrid uses a conventional Polyfoam. Gel Memory Foam tends to be more expensive than Polyfoam, hence the higher price point for the Helix model.
Another difference is the quilted cover - the Helix model has added height in its quilted cover, while the Brooklyn model is relatively flat on top.
Here is a side-by-side comparison of each model:
Do I need a foundation for my Helix Mattress?
While not necessarily essential to making a mattress comfortable, having a mattress foundation will greatly improve the support and durability while protecting it from mold, which is not usually covered under a mattress warranty. The Helix Foundation is designed specifically to work with your Helix Mattress - with wood slats across it no wider than 5” apart to avoid any sagging. Best of all, the Helix Foundation is included with your HostGPO discount!
Do I need a box spring for my Helix Mattress?
Because Helix mattresses are hybrids, they have the best of both foam mattresses, and box springs, already built into each mattress. With several layers of foams on top and hundreds of individually pocketed springs underneath, this offers the responsive support you'd expect from a box spring without the usual noise or motion transference. Helix recommends not adding a box spring to it, because that doesn't make it any more supportive--it actually makes it slightly unstable to have springs on top of springs! If it fits in any traditional bed frame or on the floor, and should be used as a box spring replacement.
Since Helix’s mattresses have individually pocketed coils the motion transference is almost as minimal as a foam mattress. But if you put box springs underneath, you get all of that motion transference and noise and no additional support, because inner springs do not work well together with box springs. All of those springs make it too shaky and unstable.
What are the differences between box springs and foundations?
Box springs do not give foam or hybrid mattresses enough support over a long period of time because they are designed for innerspring mattresses. Foundations are much more durable and reliable for the foam and hybrid mattresses that Helix offers.

How will the mattress be shipped to me?
Your Helix Mattress is gently compressed, rolled, and put in a box that’s about the size of a bag of golf clubs for easy shipping! Packaging dimensions are 47” x 16” x 16”, and we ship via FedEx Ground direct from the manufacturer to your home. Please note FedEx drivers are not required to bring mattresses up or down steps and may leave your package on the ground floor or with a doorman if they are unable to deliver directly to your door.
How can I make changes to my delivery with FedEx?
By signing up for a free FedEx Delivery Manager account, you can customize your deliveries by holding packages for pickup, changing the delivery address, or authorizing the release of packages without requiring a signature. Once delivered, how long can I leave the mattress in the box?
Helix suggests leaving the mattress in its box for up to 4 weeks after it is delivered. They do not recommend leaving it longer than that due to the structure creation of the foam.
I just opened the box, now what?
You’re almost there - but let’s give it some time. When you first open your Helix mattress, you’ll see it quickly expand to its full shape and size. But it’s not quite ready for you to jump on top and get cozy. Helix recommends giving your mattress two full hours to fully expand with no weight on its surface. Read a book. Take a walk. Watch an episode or two of your favorite Netflix show. Your Helix mattress will be ready before you know it!
What does the warranty cover?
The Helix mattress comes with a limited warranty of either 10 or 15 years, depending on the specific model purchased. The Helix Hospitality Mattress has a 10-year warranty. The warranty covers manufacturing defects and extends only to the original purchaser located in the United States or Canada. The warranty does not cover damage caused by abuse, softening of the foam over time, or defects in non-mattress components of the Helix sleep system. In the event of a Defect, Helix may provide a replacement mattress or cover of similar or greater value, subject to the customer's fulfillment of certain requirements. Does Helix offer mattress removal when they deliver the new one?
Unfortunately, in most cases, no. Because the mattresses are conveniently packaged in a box, FedEx is most often the delivery company, and as a parcel delivery company, they are not equipped to remove mattresses.
That being said, in compliance with California state laws, Helix is happy to offer Old Mattress Removal free of charge on any orders shipping to a California address. This free Old Mattress Removal service includes the removal of any items being replaced by a Helix product. For example, an order containing a Helix mattress and a Helix Foundation will be eligible for the removal of one mattress and one foundation or box spring. California customers will receive an email once your Helix products have shipped asking if you would like to opt in and schedule your Old Mattress Removal.
In other states, there are similar options available, so you may be able to find one in your area.
